Barry Wolfe
As a first-generation American growing up in a poor Chicago neighborhood, Barry Wolfe’s desire to attend summer camp and participate in other community activities might have been denied but for the generous contributions of anonymous donors. From that point on, he made a promise to himself that one day he would repay those benefactors by providing support to others in unfortunate circumstances all over the world. He has kept that promise.

Barry graduated with a bachelor’s degree in marketing/economics from theUniversity of Illinois, Chicago Circle, in 1969. Upon graduation, he entered the insurance industry and six years later formed his own agency, specializing in employee benefits, pension administration and commercial casualty. As a result of his company’s growth and success, Barry gained an understanding of microcomputer potential. That led to his creating a software company focusing on commercial casualty rating. In 1984, he sold that software company to concentrate on the insurance brokerage business and something much more important to him…his family.

For the next twenty years, Barry was recognized as a leader in changing the paradigm of insurance distribution. He founded and built several ground-breaking companies which provided insurance services to upscale financial institutions and elite clients. One of those companies was sold to Marsh McLennan, a NYSE giant, in2004. Barry remained with MMC until his retirement in 2008. But retirement for Barry meant only that he had more time to give to his other passions.

Making good on his childhood promise, Barry has been completely and faithfully committed to his religion, community and Israel throughout his entire life. He has devoted his time and energy to a number of educational institutions, synagogues and non-profit organizations and has served on many Boards and in various leadership capacities.

Barry is now honored and grateful to be on the Board of Directors of the ImpactForum. He looks forward to many more years of service. Barry is very happily married to Laurelle and together they have five children and eight grandchildren. They are active in their synagogue and live in Encino.
